Solar PV (photovoltaic) panels convert energy from the sun to create electricity through a range of solar wafers, cells and modules. The panels require only daylight to generate electricity and can generate power even on a cloudy Scottish day.
Households without solar energy have to purchase electricity from costly suppliers.
